Welcome to my blog filled with discussions from current and past classes. This blog will take you through an educational journey and will evoke a deep discussion on the blogs that are posted. I also will be doing my learning project on this blog and will be keeping you up to date on my journey throughout the weeks.
My name is Mitchell Smith and I am in my last year of my Bachelor Education degree focusing on Arts Education K-12 and concentration in Drama. I have a background in competitive/pro wrestling, dance, and I am also a high school wrestling coach at Thom Collegiate. I have a major love and passion for teaching and I know I have made the correct career choice.
I just recently finished my internship this fall at Michael A. Riffel Catholic High School working in the Drama and Arts Education programs. I had a very unique internship where we used the term pivot a lot in our Riffel family. We had to consistently pivot with teaching strategies during this global pandemic however, I am proud on how all of us came out ahead. My experiences with educational technology started to grow as we started off with 100% capacity to then 50%. We used the platform Microsoft Teams which I quickly was able to understand and utilize teaching online and face to face. I found by learning on my feet. Microsoft Teams had video conferencing which I was able to do teacher/parent/student conferences using a virtual format.
I find educational technology is super relevant in today’s current times as we are learning how to deliver instruction virtually. Educational technology is extremely important and useful in these times and there are lots of options out there in order to teach and to learn. In the world of technology I have done quite a bit the one thing I have not done much of is blogging. I have been more of a vlogger in my life as I am better speaking than I am typing. I am excited to expand my horizons and get comfortable blogging as I was vlogging.
I hope you enjoy my blog and I am to stimulate your minds and to have a great discussion about my learning project and even my educational blogs. You can also access my Twitter https://twitter.com/SmithEdtc300 for weekly posts. Thank you all and happy blogging! 🙂
